Every Australian deserves and should expect access to cheaper, cleaner and consistent electricity. But under the Albanese Government, this isn’t happening.
Households and businesses around the country are facing higher electricity bills under Labor’s expensive renewables-only approach. This approach is failing, and Australians are paying the price.
Power bills have already increased by up to $1,000 for many, when they were promised a $275 cut. Labor is going to preside over 90 per cent of baseload energy exiting the grid by 2035 without a replacement – which will mean higher bills and more black outs.
Federal Member for Groom, Garth Hamilton, believes Australia must have a balanced energy mix to deliver cheaper and consistent 24/7 energy, and this includes nuclear power.
“Nuclear is Australia’s future.
“A Federal Coalition Government will introduce nuclear to Australia’s energy mix, joining our key economic and security partners who have successfully used the technology.
“Some 32 countries currently use nuclear energy such as the United States, Canada and France. A further 50 nations are planning to adopt zero-emissions nuclear technology and Australia is at risk of being left behind.
“Our country deserves access to cheaper, cleaner and consistent electricity and our plan will deliver that,” Mr Hamilton said.
The Coalition has released the proposed locations of the zero emissions nuclear power generators, which will replace retiring coal fired power plants with existing transmission infrastructure .
“Labor is keeping us stuck in the past, and leading Australia towards an unnecessary energy crisis.
“In contrast, our plan will re-energise the Australian economy, build our sovereign capability, and set our country up for decades to come.
“We believe Australians are up for this discussion and are open-minded about including nuclear technology as part of a balanced energy mix,” Mr Hamilton said.
