Member for Groom Garth Hamilton is backing local volunteers with grants of up to $5000 now available to support them.
Mr Hamilton said that up to $66,225 is on offer in the Toowoomba Region as part of the 2022-23 Volunteer Grants round.
“Eligible, not-for-profit community organisations in Groom to submit their expression of interest before Friday, 16 September,” Mr Hamilton said.
“I am working with community leaders and local committees to identify priority volunteer support for our local area.
“Volunteers across Groom freely give their time to support local organisations in a variety of ways and make an extraordinary contribution to our community.”
Volunteer Grants of $1,000 to $5,000 will help volunteers and volunteer groups to buy small equipment for volunteers or reimbursing volunteer fuel, transport or training costs, or support promotional activities.
“Submitting the expression of interest to the Federal Member of Parliament is the first part of a two-step process.
Federal Members can nominate organisations to apply for funding in their electorate until 7 October 2022. The Department of Social Services will send an application form to nominated organisations in November 2022.
Successful applicants will be announced in June 2023.
