Community groups in South East Queensland continue to benefit from the Inland Rail Community Sponsorships and Donations Program with three new groups sharing in more than $10,000 of grant funding in the seventh round of the program.
The Inland Rail Sponsorship and Donations program provided:
- $3,800 for the Gowrie State School P&C Association for window blinds
- $3,992 for the Withcott State School P&C Association for a STEM program
- $4,000 Spirit of the Valley Events Inc for the Colour of the Lockyer Arts & Culture Festival
Local member for Groom Garth Hamilton said the Inland Rail Community Sponsorships and Donations program was providing an immediate benefit to communities along the Inland Rail alignment in Queensland.
“I’m very pleased that the Gowrie State School P&C Association has received funding to purchase much needed window blinds for their out-of-school-hours care facility,” Mr Hamilton said.
“Our schools, our sporting groups and our community organisations have always been a big part of the Toowoomba community and thanks to this Program, those groups will receive a welcome boost from Inland Rail to spruce up facilities.
“I encourage local groups and schools with ideas for projects or activities that could contribute to local and regional prosperity, well-being or sustainability to familiarise themselves with the program.”
Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Infrastructure, Transport and Regional Development Michael McCormack commended ARTC for investing in those communities that will be home to the Inland Rail.
“The Australian Government and ARTC are committed to working with local communities to maximise the opportunities that Inland Rail provides,” the Deputy Prime Minister said.
“Inland Rail will operate for decades to come, providing opportunities for businesses to grow and supporting local employment.
“I am pleased that ARTC is investing in the culture and wellbeing of communities as they plan for and deliver Inland Rail – these grants help support organisations and groups whose tireless work brings our community together.”
ARTC has supported more than 40 community groups in Queensland; these groups have received grants worth nearly $130,000. The current round of the Inland Rail Community Sponsorships and Donations program is open until Friday 30 April.
