Federal Member for Groom, Garth Hamilton, has reaffirmed his commitment to supporting the Toowoomba Speedway, recognising it as a keystone for a more diversified economy and a better motorsport scene.
“I love the speedway. I love going with the kids, and seeing hundreds if not thousands of people enjoy it,” Mr Hamilton said.
“Toowoomba Speedway goes beyond racing and in recent years it has been building, attracting thousands of visitors to the region, providing a safe and thrilling outlet for motoring enthusiasts, and contributing to the local economy,” Mr Hamilton said.
Ahead of the federal election, Mr Hamilton has been working closely with the team at the Speedway, planning for the venue’s future and the improvements needed to keep it thriving.
“There’s a lot to be done, from the road in, to the onsite lighting. The speedway has made huge investments already and with the right support, we can take our speedway to the next level and ensure it continues to thrive.”
Speedway Event Manager, Ryan Harris echoed Mr Hamilton’s call for support, highlighting the importance of investment in the facility.
“Toowoomba Speedway is growing, we are creating a world-class facility to cater for that growth and ensure our community has a great experience.”
“That’s why we’ve been working with Garth to secure investment. It would mean we can hold more events, and improve the speedway experience.
“But we need your help – community support matters,” Mr Harris said.
Mr Hamilton is urging speedway users, supporters, and attendees to speak up and share their thoughts on how to back the facility.
“If you use the speedway, support the speedway, or attend the speedway – have your say.
