A Dutton-led Liberal National Government will invest $25,000 to upgrade facilities at the Oakey Pony Club, as part of the LNP’s plan to get Australia back on track and support for regional communities.
Federal Member for Groom, Garth Hamilton, said the LNP had secured the Toowoomba region as a proud host for Olympic equestrian events and this commitment invested in the hopes and dreams of aspiring equestrian champions.
“The Oakey Pony Club provides families in Oakey and the broader Toowoomba region with an opportunity to continue a proud legacy sport,” Mr Hamilton said.
“Ensuring the delivery of upgrades to local facilities is an important part of my local plan and vision for our region’s future.
“As we race toward the Olympics, with the Equestrian Centre of Excellence now guaranteed, it is important we are investing in grass roots community sport to underpin and provide a legacy for our community.”
Secretary of the Oakey Pony Club, Tamara Good, welcomed the commitment to ensuring quality equipment and facilities to unlock showjumping at the club.
“These upgrades are important in ensuring our club can provide our members, visitors and those coming for events with a safe and durable course,” Ms Good said.
“Unfortunately, we had to dispose of our old showjumping course due to regulations and this will mean we can purchase new, safer equipment and reinvigorate our club.”
A Liberal National Government will get our country back on track and help Australians to get ahead.
