COMMUNITY groups and organisations in Groom committed to preserving Australia’s military history will benefit from $ 9,090 under the Federal Government’s Saluting Their Service Commemorative Grants Program.
Garth Hamilton MP congratulated the University of Southern Queensland (USQ) on being awarded a grant and ensuring those in the Toowoomba Region have an awareness of the strong connection to our nation’s military history.
“The successful applicants set to receive funding under the Saluting Their Service Commemorative Grants Program will make an important contribution in honouring Australian service personnel and wartime heritage for current and future generations,” Mr Hamilton said.
“The University of Southern Queensland will receive $9,090 to support development of a series of digital vignettes to commemorate the service and sacrifice of local defence personnel in the Toowoomba, Springfield and Ipswich region”
“This project is part of 80 projects funded nationwide, sharing in more than $1 million to preserve Australia’s military history.
“Congratulations to those organisations that received funding and I encourage organisations in the Toowoomba Region committed to preserving our military history to consider applying for future funding rounds.”
The Saluting Their Service Commemorative Grants Program is designed to preserve Australia’s wartime heritage and involve people around the nation in a wide range of projects and activities that honour the service and sacrifice of Australia’s service personnel.
